January 11, 2014 - If you were one of the 300,000 people in West Virginia affected by the chemical spill that occurred Thursday January 9, 2014 along the Elk River, contact us immediately at 877-888-5936, 24/7. We want to speak to you! Our Water Contamination Attorneys have recovered over $1 Billion in Environmental Disaster Lawsuits.
According to CNN: "The crisis began Thursday, when residents of Kanawha County reported a foul odor -- similar to licorice -- in the air. The Kanawha County Fire Department and the state Department of Environmental Protection that day traced that smell to a leak from a 35,000-gallon storage tank along the Elk River. The chemical had overflowed a containment area around the tank run by Freedom Industries, then migrated over land and through the soil into the river. The leak happened about a mile upriver from the impacted West Virginia American Water Co. plant."
"After concluding the tap water was contaminated late Thursday afternoon, a stop-use warning went out to customers in Boone, Cabell, Clay, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Putnam and Roane counties.
West Virginia American Water's president Jeff McIntyre said Friday he didn't believe the substance -- 4-methylcyclohexane methanol -- was still flowing. But that doesn't mean the situation will be resolved soon."
If Contaminated Water is ingested, it can cause cancer, organ failure, lesions, abnormal growths, birth defects in pregnant woman, skin diseases, tumors, and many other serious illnesses. These illnesses, however, can take months or years to develop. Please only drink bottled water until the water drinking ban is lifted. And if you have come in direct contact with the chemicals spilled or believe you may have ingested the contaminated water, please seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of ingesting contaminated water include vomiting, dizziness, skin rashes, headaches, trouble breathing, and fatigue.
We're also helping those that have suffered property damage both physical and financial. That includes a potential decrease in your property price because of the chemical spill and its potential effects. Again, if you are one of the residents in the area affected by this chemical spill, first seek medical attention if necessary, then contact us immediately to learn and protect your rights. 877-888-5936. 24/7.
